As luck would have it (for my friend) the “Go Boston” travel ticket that I had listed the Samuel Adams Brewery as one of the local attractions I could visit using the card, and so figuring that fate wanted me to keep my promise I went. The tour turned out to be more appealing than I thought it was going to be, focusing on the man himself and his techniques more than the actual beer, and the smell was a little overpowering in some areas, especially for someone who doesn’t like beer. Learning about the beer making process however was interesting.
For those who enjoy the more practical side of such establishments, the Samuel Adams Brewery has a tasting room where those who have experienced the brewery tour can sample the products that it produces. Tasting the beer wasn’t part of the promise made to my friend, but a souvenir was – and to my surprise, production of my “Go Boston” card made me the recipient of a small commemorative glass to take home. It’s not something I’d do again, but it was interesting and a great alternative to Boston’s parks and museums for guys (and girls) who enjoy their beer!
