There’s so much to do and see in Boston that being familiar with getting around the city is an advantage to getting as much out of your vacation there as possible. I found that having a “Go Boston Card” allowed me to not only travel on the same transportation network (which meant I quickly became familiar with how it worked), but also saved money.
The card is available for a variety of different day periods – mine was for 4 days – and along with travel, you get to enter any of the attractions, museums, etc free (but only once a day per attraction) which means you save on the admittance price.
What I did was to plan my sightseeing so that the things I wanted to see that were free with the pass I went to during the lifespan of my Go Boston Card, and I left the attractions that didn’t have admittance fees covered by the card until my pass was finished. Although Boston favorite tourist haunts such as Paul Revere’s House are included in the list of free admittance with the card, my person favorite was the Liberty Fleet Tall Ship Adventures!
When traveling around within a city, I hate to continuingly feel as if I’m a stranger and having to ask where to get on, how to purchase a ticket (like do you need the right change or can you just give them money and receive change back), and so on. The Go Boston Card gave me 1 day of learning how it worked followed by 3 days of feeling I was on familiar ground – and I didn’t have to worry about having to pay to get into places. If I passed somewhere that I thought looked interesting, and it was on my list, I could afford to go inside and take a quick look even if it was near closing time, because it didn’t cost me anything extra! You’ve got to love value for money, and if you plan your itinerary and use it right, this ticket could save you a lot of money!
